Grand Bend Is Rated #1
Best Coastal & Lakeside Town in Canada

Very exciting news for our community with the latest rating by Expedia at #1. Grand Bend and our community is working around the clock to make Grand Bend a clean, fun space for all ages to enjoy. This is what Expedia had to say about Grand Bend:
Grand Bend, Ontario, is an iconic summer destination. Located on the shoreline of Lake Huron, it’s full of places to stretch out your towel. There are also outdoor showers, volleyball nets, and a children’s splash pad. Need to dry off? There’s nearby Port Blake Beach & Day Park, which has picnic tables and BBQ pits. If you don’t want to do any cooking yourself, head to local favourite Smackwater Jacks Taphouse after your day by the water.
Fun fact: The Ford Motor Company held one of their first company events here in the 1910s.

Long Point and Wasaga Beach followed us at #1. Read the full rating of towns across Canada by clicking this link.

CMHC Makes Announcement Regarding
Self-Employed Borrowers

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. is making changes intended to make it easier for the self-employed to qualify for a mortgage.
The national housing agency says it's giving lenders more guidance and flexibility to help self-employed borrowers.
Self-employed Canadians may have a harder time qualifying for a mortgage as their incomes may vary or be less predictable.
CMHC is providing examples of factors that can be used to support the lender's decision to lend to borrowers who have been operating their business for less than 24 months, or in the same line of work for less than 24 months.
It is also providing a broader range of documentation options to increase flexibility for satisfying income and employment requirements.
The changes, which apply to both transactional and portfolio insurance, will take effect Oct. 1.

Beach Safety In Lambton Shores

Just another reason why Grand Bend was rated #1 by Expedia is our beach safety.

Grand Bend has lifeguards on patrol everyday of the summer keeping an eye on those enjoying the beach and water. On weekdays you will have lifeguards on duty from Noon - 6pm. On weekends you will see lifeguards on duty from 11am - 7pm.

A new program to Grand Bend is the life jacket lending program and it is free! Visit the Grand Bend Beach Concession Stand to borrow a life jacket. All you need to do is leave a piece of identification with the concession staff and return the life jacket by 6:00 pm the same day you borrow it.

Grand Bend beach uses the beach warning flag system. These flags are only out if lifeguards are on duty and they are a signal of what the water conditions are. Flags will be green (good conditions, no unusual hazards), yellow (moderate conditions, swim with caution),  or red (danger, swimming not advised). Along with the water condition flags you will find beach signage regarding if it is safe to swim or unsafe to swim due to e coli tests that are done weekly along on our coast line.

Stay safe this summer in the water and make sure to keep an eye on each other when out in the water.

Looking for anything metal for your gardens, for exterior landscaping, inter decor and so much more. 'The Iron Barn' just opened their main street location this summer and has been a great addition to the main street. Stop by today and check them out. Our favourite item is the metal fireplace surrounds to keep your fire contained but also look very cool all at the same time. You can personalize these and make them more meaningful to your individual project.

Increase In Recreational Properties
As Retirement Homes

A recent survey of RE/MAX Brokers and agents found that 91% of popular Canadian recreational property markets examined, retirees were the key factor driving activity. This is in stark contrast to last year's findings, when retirees were a dominant driving force in only 55% of markets examined.

This has been a driving force in the Grand Bend and area market. As some people come to find that cottage they have always wanted, a great number of people moving this way are looking for a retirement spot to relax and live a much easier lifestyle. Or you see buyers purchasing a place to use as a cottage or income property and rent it out for a couple years before they retire. Moving to the place full time once they retire. Grand Bend in the past ten eyars has done a great job of making this area a pleasurable year round spot to live. With our medical centre in town, to the chiropractors, dentists, physiotherapy, and so much more for the aging community to use without having to drive outside of town.
