Addressing The Traffic Issue In Grand Bend
The Municipality of Lambton Shores, in cooperation with the Provincial Ministry of Transportation, initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process in July 2016 to consider alternatives to address ongoing traffic congestion along the Ontario Street corridor through Grand Bend (see map for location). Since initiating the review, the study has considered a range of alternatives to address the traffic problem including, i) Alternatives associated with widening the bridge at Parkhill Creek to accommodate more traffic lanes, ii) an examination of various lane configurations and road widenings to optimize traffic flow through the corridor, including the addition of bike lanes, and iii) other traffic issues such as signal light optimization and pedestrian cross-walk locations.
Public consultation is a key component of this study. A Public Information Centre has therefore been scheduled to update residents and project stakeholders on the status of study investigations and to receive input from interested parties on the Preliminary Preferred Alternatives selected to address the traffic congestion problem. Details of the Public Information Centre are as follows:
Date: Monday June 4, 2018 Time: 3 pm – 5 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm. Location: Grand Bend Legion, 20 Municipal Drive, Grand Bend
Following the meeting, input into the Class EA will be accepted until July 6, 2018. Comments collected in conjunction with this Class EA Schedule ‘C’ process will be maintained on file for use during the project and may be included in project documentation.
