July Newsletter ~ The PEDLAR Team Update

Summer Is Here!

We are a little late with this monthly update but we did it this way so we could say we hope you had a fantastic Canada Day or July 4th celebrations! Grand Bend traffic has certainly picked up as tourists flock to our beautiful town and sandy shores of Lake Huron. We have been very lucky with the weather lately so we hope everyone has been able to enjoy a slice of it. Beaches are still open and appears most people are trying their best to social distance so this is great news. We hope everyone can keep up the good work and continue to social distance so our beach stays open! Our local restaurants have done an amazing job at working around the restrictions imposed on them by the government. Make sure to support our local businesses during these tough times so that we can see them come back stronger than ever next year! Be kind to those working at the various establishments as it is just as uncomfortable for them as it is for you and this is all new to everybody.

Doug and Garrett went just north of Grand Bend yesterday to pick up a growler from Bad Apple Brewery Company Ltd. We couldn't resist a fresh cold one while we there to drink in the orchard under some shade. They are just another one of the great businesses we are so lucky to have around. Find Doug below out at Bad Apple Brewery.

You also may have seen the RE/MAX balloon this weekend! We will have to wait to invite everyone out for another BBQ and tethered balloon ride due to COVID. The pilot is going to bring it down a few times this summer just to tether the balloon and bring a smile to your day as not everyone gets to see these balloons on the ground. We look forward to being able to invite everyone out for a day next summer with the balloon.

Hope you all have a great Monday and remember that we are never far from our phones if you have a question about real estate in the area.

How Much Will It Cost To Buy A House?

RE/MAX published a great article regarding all the costs of buying a home. The article goes into detail and breaks down the process so click the link below.

You’ve likely heard people lauding the benefits of home ownership. Canadian real estate has historically seen solid long-term gains, which bodes well for existing home owners and those who plan to buy and keep the place for the long term. Other benefits of owning a home – a roof over your head, a place to plant roots, pride of ownership, retirement plan, the list is long and varied. However, as with all investments, there is that initial cost of owning a house in Canada, and unlike other investment vehicles, a home comes with ongoing costs as well. So, down to the nitty-gritty: How much will it cost to buy a house? The price of the home and the services associated with the purchase are all relative to the type of property, its age/condition and location, so do your research to ensure it remains a good investment. A real estate agent can outline what you can expect to pay, and maybe some unexpected expenses as well. In the meantime, here’s a list to factor into your budget.

A new initiative started by the Lambton County & Huron County Economic Development groups was uploaded recently. They each created a virtual mapping website to show all the businesses and store fronts across the counties. These were created as an idea during COVID and will become a great tool for locals and tourists alike after COVID. Any business can be posted in the respective area if you go to the proper link below for each county.
