Our apologies for not getting our monthly newsletter out sooner in the month but it has been a busy couple weeks with our hike wrapping up Sept 30th, off to Halifax for RE/MAX Activate from October 6th-10th and then Thanksgiving Weekend! The fall market is here and this time of year is wonderful to view homes with the changing colours. Also an incredible time to head into The Pinery Park and so some exploring while the crowds are minimal and the colours are maximum. Another big highlight this week has been the Grand Bend Bridge Construction where we saw the roads go down to one lane on Tuesday to install the concrete supports that create the foundation of the two new lanes!

This month we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to Lake Hound Restaurant where you can find an awesome spot to eat year round from breakfast to dinner! They have lots of things going on even through the cooler months with live entertainment and trivia nights. Check out their socials to keep up to date!

Bruce Trail Hike 2025

 

Garrett, Jeannette, Doug & team would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone that donated, sent messages, called us and shared our content during these two phases of the 2025 Bruce Trail Hike in support of the Children's Health Foundation. With your support we were able to raise nearly $16K for the Children's Health Foundation! Combined between the two phases we started at Blue Mountain and worked our way West to Owen Sound and at the end made our final due North turn towards the ultimate goal of Tobermory! Completing approximately 240 KMS of this beautiful escarpment that we are so lucky to hike along. We finished this year just North of Owen Sound and that is exactly where we will pick back up in 2026.

2026 is our final year of this adventure with two more phases planned for Spring and Fall with a big celebration to follow when we touchdown in Tobermory in Fall of 2026. We will be announcing dates much sooner for next year so we can arrange more friends and family to come join us to make 2026 the best year yet!

RE/MAX Activate Halifax 2025


Garrett & Mark headed to Halifax for the Canadian RE/MAX Activate Conference bringing together nearly 1,000 agents together from across this beautiful country. Halifax was an incredible location and if your looking for any recommendations reach out and we would love to share our favourite spots! We took in lots of great information during our time away that will be valuable in providing an even better experience for our clients. The event was wrapped up with a powerful presentation by Canadian legend Chris Hadfield!

Potentially the biggest reason for going to these events is truly connecting with other agents across Canada so that when we have clients looking to move anywhere in Canada we can connect them with someone we actually know. And not opening up a local directory of agents and selecting one! From the small towns and large cities that dot our Canadian landscape there is a great chance we know someone personally in that local market. Give us a call if you are thinking of moving outside of Grand Bend and area so that we can connect you with another great agent in that local market!


Fall Home Maintenance Checklist

 

With the cooler weather arriving and leaves falling it is best to get your home ready for winter sooner then later! Here is a short list of things to do in preparation and of course there are some items that may be specific to your home that you don't want to miss either:

- Look for any holes or gaps that could let air/rodents in your home and seal them up
- Have your HVAC system checked & inspected
- Winter proof your outdoor faucets
- Give your roof a good scan ensuring it is in good shape for the weather ahead with no shingles lifting up or nail pops
- Clean & unclog your gutters
- Trim or cut back your trees, shrubs & bushes
- Move or organize patio furniture accordingly
- test smoke detectors (although you should have just done this during Fire Safety Week last week!)

Hard to believe we are already into September and the kids are going back to school but here we are! Hope you had a wonderful August and Labour Day long weekend. It wasn't the warmest Labour Day weekend on record but it certainly was sunny and blue skies so it is tough to complain. September is arguably our favourite month as most the business remain open, the sunshine sticks around, free downtown parking and tourists aren't as common leaving all the favourites for the locals to enjoy! That being said there are lots of empty seats for the tourists to fill! As you can tell pictured above the Pedlar Girls are ready for school and see all their friends after a jam packed summer of fun!

This month we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to Twin Pines Orchard & Cider House which is located just south of Grand Bend on the outskirts of Thedford. It is a very charming place that goes big for the fall season with apples, pumpkins, gourds and so much more! It is the place to be to get yourself in the fall spirit. Did we mention how delicious their ciders are!?!? Can't say enough good things about this business being owned by a local family that give so much back to the community. PRO TIP: Get their homemade apple pies and wood fired pizzas! Make sure to head over for their coveted APPLEFEST happening September 27th  and 28th 10am - 5pm!

Going On In The Area This Month


September is a slower time for community events with everybody getting back to routine but we got a few great things for you to put in your calendar.

The Forest Fall Fair is running September 19th - 21st

Volkfest is being held in Goderich September 28th from10am - 4pm

On top of this you still have some great local farmers markets happening:
Wednesdays 9am - 1pm at Lambton Shores Musuem just South of Grand Bend
Wednesdays 8am - 1pm at St.Johns Church just North of Grand Bend
Fridays 9am - 1pm in downtown Forest

Also support your local Ausable-Port Franks Optimist Club and come on out to our Meat Draws starting back up at Grog's Pub and Grill which are held at 2pm on the third Sunday of every month from September to May. See you September 20th at 2pm where yours truly, Garrett Pedlar, is the MC and makes sure everybody has a good time!
